Fast-forwarded the fork's main to upstream v4.2.38 and merged it here. Pure sync.

Upstream commits:

  • 574d9ae Sentry crash fixes: auto-merged.
  • d691c8c v4.2.38 version bump: auto-merged.
  • 6593fe4 CsWin32 0.3.335 -> 0.3.346: auto-merged. Compat build is green. compat-off-check reports 3 new keys (see below).
  • 9238793 startup performance (Code Quality: Improved startup performance files-community/Files#19002): two conflicts.
    • StringExtensions.cs: upstream's locked, context-resetting resource lookup was applied through our ResourceLookup helper (ResourceLookup.Reset(), MRT context cached on Windows, no-op on Uno).
    • WidgetFolderCardItem.cs: kept our null-safe Item?.Dispose() plus upstream's _isDisposed.
  • 623922c search performance (Code Quality: Improve search performance files-community/Files#18992): FolderSearch.cs merged cleanly. SearchTick is now EventHandler<IReadOnlyList<ListedItem>>, so FolderSearch.Linux.cs now routes results through the shared AddResult batching instead of raising the old EventArgs.Empty tick.

Verification:

  • net10.0-desktop build: 0 errors.
  • Platform tests: 735 passed, 7 skipped, 0 failed.
  • compat-off-check: 3 new error keys, all from upstream's new Windows-only Win32 usage (WinRT namespace and IAgileReference in WidgetFolderCardItem and QuickAccessWidgetViewModel, FindCloseSafeHandle in FolderSearch). The set grew, so the baseline is not updated.

Linux-relevant follow-ups, not applied here:

  • Startup: the language-reset and lazy-init changes may suit the Linux startup path.
  • Search: our Linux walk does not yet use upstream's shortcut/icon finalization.
