Question: Could filtering benefit from an "alias" mode?

When working with SW360, I'm facing a particular challenge. One of the
SPDX components appears as paho-mqtt-c. However, in SW360, the
component was created by a third party as paho.mqtt.c and is already
populated with multiple releases.

This is more a challenge related to multiple parties manipulating the
same SW360 server. Yet, I think that adding an alias or replace
mode may be useful in those scenarios.

@rfuentess, thanks for your feedback. We experience similar issues here, partly we try to solve them with guidelines etc.

But for most components, my ultimate answer would be: ignore names and only rely on PURLs for mapping. Was your component installed using a package manager? If not, you probably need to rely on something else. I know of other teams relying on the VCS url, sometimes also the homepage helps, but all of this doesn't guarantee uniqueness...
