First, can you please clarify, why do we actually need platformio build? What are the pros of that?

I see a lot of cons, but I don't see any pros.

Unfortunately I couldn't build it with make or arduino-cli due to regional restrictions – the dependencies just won't download. With PlatformIO, everything worked fine, though.

@AlexandrAnatoliev, I would be ok with adding an option of platformio build if nothing or almost nothing would be changed in the main sources. So Arduino build will be kept as the main way of building.

I read the docs, and I understood this is possible to have platformio just on the side of the normal Arduino sketch.
