When Fin cannot verify a contact by one-time passcode email, the conversation records that the verification failed but not why. Anyone reading that conversation through the API cannot tell a contact with no email address apart from any other failure.
How?
Describes the data the failure event now carries in the Preview spec. The reason is a plain string, so a client that meets a reason it does not recognise can fall back to the event label.
