In native terminal mode, when I "ask" something, it starts working and I get a "done in x seconds" but no answer is visible. It works well in terminal mode. This is in vs2026 version 18.0.0

This looks like the native-mode bug fixed in version 181.0: the chat closed the turn with "Done in X seconds" while the answer itself was never rendered. Please update the extension (Extensions → Manage Extensions → Updates) to 181.0 or later and try again.

If it still happens on 181.0+, could you send the log file so I can see what the agent actually returned?

Paste that path into Explorer's address bar (it expands to C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\ClaudeCodeExtension\terminal-launch.log) and attach the file here. Native-mode session start/failure details are written there too, not only terminal launches.

Along with the log, it would help to know:

• The extension version you are on (Extensions → Manage Extensions → Installed).
• Which agent you are using (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, …) and whether it is the Windows or WSL variant.
• Whether the answer is missing for every prompt or only for some (for example only short/instant answers, or only after a tool call).
