Search (home page and advanced search) uses django.contrib.postgres's TrigramSimilarity, which requires the pg_trgm Postgres extension. It was never installed, so any search request crashed with django.db.utils.ProgrammingError: function similarity(...) does not exist, surfaced to users as a 500 error.
