This repository contains the source code for the Visual Studio extension and accompanying tooling described in the blog post Debugging applications under Wine with Visual Studio, which facilitates one-click debugging of Windows applications running under Wine with WSL2.
Make wdbg.exe and add to Resources
cd Source\wdbg
dotnet publish
copy bin\Release\net10.0\win-x64\publish\wdbg.exe ..\WineDebug\Resources
cd ..\..
Build the Visual Studio Extension by opening Source\WineDebug\WineDebug.sln in Visual Studio.
If you're making changes to the container you'll first need to build launcher.exe and then:
cd Containers\DebugImage
copy ..\..\Source\launcher\x64\Release\launcher.exe context
.\build.bat
This will build the Epic Games base image (compiling Wine, so it takes a while) and then the debug image.
You will then need to push it or change the option in the extension to prevent pulling, otherwise your changes will be overwritten.
Just create a tag and push it. e.g.,
git pull
git tag v1.1.1
git push origin v1.1.1
The workflow will then:
- Update the version number in Source/WineDebug/source.extension.vsixmanifest
- Publish wdbg and copy the exe to Source/WineDebug/resources
- Build the VSIX package in Release configuration
- Create a new release based on the tag
- Attach the VSIX package to the release
Note that the Source zip/tar.gz in the release will NOT have the updated version number, but the VSIX will.
