GitHub App records expose their registration owner, but the graph does not currently distinguish tenant-owned Apps from third-party Apps or connect a collected owner to the App registration. This makes it difficult to identify who can administer an App and its credentials.

This change projects the existing owner metadata onto GH_App, classifies each App as tenant_owned, third_party, or unknown, and emits a traversable GH_Owns edge when the enterprise, organization, or user owner exists in the collected graph. It also adds the owner panel query and updates the schema and entity documentation.

Validation:

  • RUNTIME__LOG_PATH=/tmp/openhound-github-logs .venv/bin/pytest — 421 passed
  • .venv/bin/ruff check src/openhound_github/lookup.py src/openhound_github/models/app_installation.py tests/test_lookup.py tests/test_app_model.py
  • python -m json.tool extension/schema.json
  • Clean preprocess and conversion of an Enterprise GitHub App collection completed across all 68 graph resources

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • App records now include their registration origin and owner details when available.
    • Ownership links connect apps to collected enterprise, organization, or user accounts, making these relationships traversable in the graph.
    • Apps without a resolvable owner are shown without an ownership link.
  • Documentation
    • Updated ownership and app descriptions to reflect the supported relationships.

Walkthrough

The app model now exposes registration-owner details, classifies registration origin, and emits ownership edges when the owner is collected. Lookup methods, tests, schema, and descriptions cover these changes.

Changes

App ownership

Layer / File(s) Summary
Collected owner lookups
src/openhound_github/lookup.py, tests/test_lookup.py
Cached lookups check organization and user IDs in tenant and enterprise tables. Tests cover IDs found in either table and IDs not found.
App owner properties and edges
src/openhound_github/models/app_installation.py, tests/test_app_model.py
The app model adds optional owner data, registration-origin classification, and ownership edges for collected owners. Tests cover classifications, missing owners, and edge behavior.
Ownership schema and descriptions
descriptions/edges/GH_Owns.md, descriptions/nodes/GH_App.md, extension/schema.json
The descriptions and schema document ownership edges from enterprises, organizations, and users to apps. The organization-to-repository edge remains.

Enterprise-owned Apps are supported, but their property descriptions are misleading. Correct the documentation; no material runtime issue was established.

Include enterprise owners in the property descriptions.

The new diagram documents GH_Enterprise -> GH_App, and the runtime accepts Enterprise owners and emits this edge. The owner_login and owner_node_id rows still mention only users and organizations. Update these rows and include Enterprise in the owner_type examples. Enterprise-owned GitHub Apps are supported. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
