Publish versioned OpenHound GitHub containers to GHCR so operators can run the collector without managing a local Python environment. Release tags produce a BloodHound Enterprise scheduler image (<version>) and a CLI image (<version>-cli) for Linux AMD64 and ARM64.

The release flow publishes the Python package first, then smoke-tests and publishes both container variants with SBOMs. Container builds are restricted to release-triggering PRs merged into main in SpecterOps/openhound-github; forks, standalone tag pushes, and manual dispatch cannot publish containers. Failed jobs can be retried from the original release run.

Images use a non-root distroless runtime and accept configuration through read-only mounts. The build context excludes local output, .dlt state and secrets, private keys, and unrelated files. The README documents builds, runtime configuration, tags, and GHCR access requirements.

Validation:

  • Built CLI and enterprise targets for Linux ARM64 and AMD64; ran AMD64 checks under Docker Desktop emulation.
  • Verified CLI help, GitHub collector discovery, package version, non-root execution, and exclusion of local output/configuration and private-key files.
  • Verified scheduler configuration resolution and startup calls with a mocked service, including dummy credentials in a read-only mount with networking disabled.
  • Parsed workflow YAML and checked trigger conditions for upstream merges, forks, other branches, unmerged/open PRs, tag/direct pushes, and manual dispatch.
  • git diff --check passed.

Live collection, GHCR publication, and SBOM output remain to be verified in the release environment.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added multi-architecture CLI and enterprise container images.
    • Added a containerized BloodHound Enterprise scheduler.
    • CLI containers provide built-in help, while enterprise containers start the scheduler automatically.
    • Added support for configuring credentials, destinations, and collector settings in containers.
  • Documentation

    • Added instructions for building, running, publishing, retrying, and verifying container images.
  • Chores

    • Automated workflows now validate, sign, and publish container images with SBOMs.

Walkthrough

The changes add CLI and enterprise container images, a scheduler entry point, and release workflows that build, verify, and publish multi-architecture images to GHCR. The README documents container use and publication.

Changes

Container release

Layer / File(s) Summary
Container runtime
.dockerignore, Dockerfile, pyproject.toml, src/scheduler.py, README.md
Adds the container dependency and scheduler entry point. Defines CLI and enterprise image targets and documents scheduler usage.
Release workflow wiring

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 78c04

The release workflow's queued concurrency configuration is valid. Qualifying releases now wait in order instead of replacing one another, and package-write access is limited to the container publishing job. No outstanding issue blocks merging this change.
