Import native detection releases on the reviewed classification/corpus stack

Consumes the existing detection-only canonical_v1 ZIP into new draft image records with unknown rights, preserving normalized PNG geometry, negative images, fractional pixel-edge xywh boxes, exported fixed splits and retained declared family links. Validation never grants review; upstream originals and omitted unselected upstream bridges remain unavailable.

Source: 051e8ca88901ed431b5bac60f9fe0c6df5b5db3f, tree 4aa9ae98692c4c83079e3e5d87f6756091c7f2db, direct parent PR28 b98e5e74fae6476294a6b979d73dd86c28c26253, which retains PR27 3cd0dc76e46e6d7798ae34fc9e3f35ca31dfbe6e and saved searches cdb8e241b002c5beef464df1bec36f10efb7023e. Reconciles preserved local detection b85d53992ed5b6aeb35fa80f38c6aac9356c0f40; that source and all historical accepted/failed artifacts remain unchanged. README and HTML were resolved additively. Shared exporters, corpus validation, Workbench controller, saved searches and all 39 base fixtures retain exact b98 bytes.

Independent design/source/final evidence review cleared. Complete local aggregate: 78/78 gates, 402 Python tests, 32 browser commands, both pinned actual consumers, 0 failures/blockers/stale gates; 225 source hashes and 407 tracked files verified at this exact commit. All 142 artifact hashes (94 JPEG, zero PNG) and all 122 preserved old artifacts verified. The new actual HTTP/Chromium family test retains a dirty corpus note and exact selected revisions across detection admission, rejects old corpus preview proof with 409, then explicitly previews and exports exact UTF-8 corpus bytes with the imported unselected train family member. Existing frozen classification/native releases and saved searches/selections remain intact; conflicting admission leaves database and preview unchanged. Existing duplicate, Stop, delayed-refresh, uncertain-response lookup, review/history, reload/back and narrow-layout gates remain.

Consumer limits: 1–100 records, 8 MiB stored ZIP, 16 MiB expanded, 3 MiB decoded signed row, 16 MiB combined prepared tokens, 40 million pixels per image. Dataset owns atomic acquisition; no second image store or broad editor.

Local evidence: /workspace/native-detection-stack-qualification/{acceptance-receipt,qualification-receipt,independent-final-review}.json; aggregate build/qa/qualification/run-o2_tc91w. Verified incremental source bundle: 34,662 bytes, SHA256 e6840854550e7827c83486e6fce539fab38dde3c924e52a0fe31dcae57df8100, prerequisite b98. Hosted exact-head CI passed: run 37779084116, attempt 1, actual run head 051e8ca88901ed431b5bac60f9fe0c6df5b5db3f; lifecycle job 113317311326, 90/90 successful steps, including 402 Python tests in actual logs, the combined corpus-family browser check and both real pinned consumers. Checkout merge 2405d270c31c40302ad7235a152142c3daa9e97b has candidate tree 4aa9ae98692c4c83079e3e5d87f6756091c7f2db. The run started against b98 and completed after the metadata retarget; current b58 base has exactly the same b98 tree and review diff, independently verified. Uploaded QA artifact 11550594242 (workbench-qa-artifacts, 10,125,902 bytes) reports SHA256 ee50d1394a28b137ced33ffa330cac5d28ee5d7c544665feddeb8c9578985cb8, expires 2027-01-06. Final publication receipt remains separate from historical pending observations.

Retained Chapter 8/11 gates use tiny authored classifier/corpus compatibility fixtures and limited local trainer steps. They do not train on Rheon or qualify any model. Reuses only the accepted fee7b4a139574f87b259796b1ba8698a41d31ac1 pilot; zero new simulations or model downloads. No producer repin. UI remains provisional. Main remains frozen at 2fc4a46. New stacked draft only: no merge, deploy, protected branch update, force push, or additional review campaign request.

Parent-stack reconciliation: root normally merged PR28 into PR27 as b58a007fe682d60e8a71339df5e175354b8dd672, parents 3cd/b98, exact tree 520359ebb35bac1351f677baa0e5f4133c307607 equal to b98. PR29 is retargeted onto feature/reviewed-image-classification-export-20261008 at that merge. Its source commit/tree and detection diff remain unchanged; no rebase, force push, source merge or existing-ref mutation was needed. Root owns reassessment of PR27 at b58; older 3cd CI is not treated as b58 qualification. PR29 exact-head CI is checked after this metadata update.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Import canonical detection ZIP exports as drafts, preserving exported partitions and family links.
    • Review import progress and results, stop an import, and check or dismiss uncertain outcomes.
    • Imported images retain their detection annotations for review before release.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Prevent duplicate submissions when an import outcome is uncertain; imported records remain saved if a collection refresh fails.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on detection imports, validation, review, and release requirements.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Adds an end-to-end import flow for canonical_v1 detection ZIPs. The server validates and prepares archive rows, then admits them as drafts. The Workbench adds browser controls for import progress and uncertain outcomes, with tests for archive validation, admission, and corpus compatibility.

Changes

Native detection import

Layer / File(s) Summary
Archive validation and preparation
native_detection_import.py, docs/plans/native-detection-import/*, tests/test_native_detection_import.py
Defines archive, manifest, image, annotation, and lineage validation. Preparation returns bounded, sealed row tokens. Tests cover valid exports, malformed inputs, and preparation limits.
Row admission and Workbench integration
app.py, native_detection_import.py, workbench.py, tests/test_native_detection_import.py
Adds prepare and admission routes. Admission checks request markers, duplicates, and lineage splits before importing an image with its detection annotation and source split. Workbench validates and stores the selected annotation task.
Browser import lifecycle and controls
static/native_detection_import.js, static/workbench.html, README.md, tests/browser_native_detection_import.cjs, tests/test_native_detection_import_controller.cjs, .github/workflows/tests.yml, tests/test_qa_artifacts.cjs
Adds the import panel and controller. Rows are submitted sequentially; uncertain outcomes can be checked without replay. Tests and workflow entries cover controller and browser behavior.
Corpus and release compatibility
docs/plans/native-detection-stack/plan.md, tests/test_native_detection_stack.py, tests/browser_native_detection_import.cjs
Documents the stacked candidate and tests corpus preview invalidation, protected-family assignments, and preservation of existing releases during detection admission.

A damaged import image can fail without a proper validation response. This is a narrow, straightforward fix before merging.

`SyntaxError` from Pillow while parsing malformed PNG data, and translate it to

Applied the existing independently verified direct-child repair 0c0a8e6dcefd23730a9c4f481022f5a045ba2e1c by expected-head fast-forward from 051e8ca88901ed431b5bac60f9fe0c6df5b5db3f, without a force push or history rewrite. It catches Pillow’s malformed-PNG SyntaxError and adds an actual malformed chunk HTTP400/atomic-failure regression. Retained exact-source qualification passes 78/78 gates, 403 Python tests and 32 browser commands; an independent reviewer verified source and archive hashes. This is not old-head hosted CI qualification: the new head must receive its own hosted checks before merge. No simulations, model downloads or scientific training campaign were run.
