I'm getting a similar error on the CA3 example network, when I try to change the layout of the cells. The pops are only defined to have a cell number (https://github.com/suny-downstate-medical-center/netpyne/blob/development/examples/CA3model_3pops/src/netParams.py#L102), no info in the configuration on layout etc. When I try to change the spatial distribution, it gives a similar error:
