Dotfiles

Personal dotfiles and shell configurations.

ZSH Configuration

Clean oh-my-zsh setup with public/private configuration split.

Features

  • Public .zshrc with oh-my-zsh framework configuration
  • Private .zshrc.local for machine-specific settings (not tracked in git)
  • Parrot theme with full path display
  • Plugin support (git, zsh-autosuggestions)

Installation

# Clone this repo
git clone <your-repo-url> ~/dotfiles

# Create symlinks
ln -s ~/dotfiles/zsh/.zshrc ~/.zshrc
ln -s ~/dotfiles/zsh/themes/parrot.zsh-theme ~/.oh-my-zsh/custom/themes/parrot.zsh-theme

# Create your local configuration
touch ~/.zshrc.local
# Add machine-specific configs (PATH, tool configurations, etc.) to ~/.zshrc.local

Parrot ZSH Theme

A customized version of the Parrot ZSH theme with full path display.

Features

  • Clean, two-line prompt with decorative box-style design
  • Git, SVN, and Mercurial repository status indicators
  • Python virtualenv display
  • Exit code display on errors
  • Full working directory path (modified from original)

Installation

# Clone this repo
git clone <your-repo-url> ~/dotfiles

# Create symlink to oh-my-zsh custom themes
ln -s ~/dotfiles/zsh/themes/parrot.zsh-theme ~/.oh-my-zsh/custom/themes/parrot.zsh-theme

# Set theme in ~/.zshrc
ZSH_THEME="parrot"

Attribution

  • Original YS Theme: Yad Smood (2013)
  • Parrot Theme: TOURE A. KARIM (Feb 2022) - trabdlkarim/parrot-zsh-theme
  • Modified: Changed from %c (current directory name) to %~ (full path from home)

Claude Code Configuration

Personal Claude Code instructions for consistent AI-assisted development practices.

Features

  • Verification discipline (no completion claims without evidence)
  • Systematic debugging process (root cause before fixes)
  • Testing mandate (RED-GREEN-REFACTOR)
  • Communication standards (no agreement theater)
  • Code review standards (spec compliance first)

Installation

# Create Claude config directory if needed
mkdir -p ~/.claude

# Create symlink
ln -s ~/dotfiles/claude/CLAUDE.md ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md

WezTerm Configuration

WezTerm config for an Omarchy (Hyprland) desktop with Mac-style key bindings, where Cmd is Super.

Features

  • Cmd+C / Cmd+V use the clipboard (Omarchy sends Ctrl+Insert / Shift+Insert to terminals)
  • iTerm2-style panes: Cmd+D splits side by side; Cmd+W closes the current pane
  • Cmd+I renames the current tab

Cmd+Shift+D (split down), Cmd+Option+arrows (move between panes) and Cmd+W come from Hyprland bindings in ~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua, which are not in this repo. They send WezTerm's own split, pane and Ctrl+Shift+W keys.

Installation

mkdir -p ~/.config/wezterm
ln -s ~/dotfiles/wezterm/wezterm.lua ~/.config/wezterm/wezterm.lua

Nano Configuration

Line numbers and syntax highlighting for nano.

Features

  • Line numbers in the left margin (Alt+N toggles them)
  • Syntax highlighting from the definitions nano ships in /usr/share/nano/ (the Arch path; other systems may install them elsewhere)

Installation

mkdir -p ~/.config/nano
ln -s ~/dotfiles/nano/nanorc ~/.config/nano/nanorc

Syncthing Configuration

Multi-language development ignore patterns optimized for performance.

Features

  • Excludes build artifacts and dependencies (node_modules, venv, target, vendor)
  • Excludes live database files (use SQL dumps instead)
  • Includes dev secrets and docker-compose overrides for convenience
  • Supports Node.js, Python, Go, Rust, React Native, and more
  • Dramatically reduces file count (300K+ → 5K-10K files)
  • Reduces sync time from hours to minutes

Installation

# Copy to your synced folder
cp ~/dotfiles/syncthing/.stignore ~/path/to/synced/folder/.stignore

# Restart Syncthing or rescan folder

See syncthing/README.md for detailed documentation.
