Ongoing call becomes inaccessible after dismissing the call notification

Steps to reproduce the bug

1.Start a phone call.
2.Press the Home button or use the Home gesture to leave the active call interface.
3. Clear all notifications, including the ongoing-call notification.
4. Try to return to the call interface.

Expected behavior

An active call should remain clearly accessible even if its notification is dismissed. Reopening the Phone app should always provide a way to return to the ongoing call or end it.

Actual behavior

The ongoing-call notification cannot be restored.
There is no visible indication that a call is still in progress.
Reopening the Phone app sometimes returns to the active call, but not consistently.
If the call does not reappear, the only apparent way to end it is to force-close the relevant apps through Android Settings.
Additionally, if the Back button is pressed while in the Phone Call Interface, there is no reliable way to return to the active call interface unless the notification is still present.

Could the app provide a persistent, non-dismissible notification or another permanent in-app indicator for ongoing calls?
It would also be helpful if opening the Phone app always displayed a clear option to return to the active call interface.

In my case it is not possible to clear the notification while the call is still ongoing. It is an issue system/device specific.

I can confirm that once I leave the phone app in an ongoing call I cannot return to it.

Today I was faced with a similar problem: This time it was an incoming call that I tried to answer. In my attempt to tap the green button I slightly missed it. The dialog vanished. The phone was still ringing, but there was no way to do anything about it, neither in the notification section nor in the app.

Live notification support could actually be added for Android 16 and above. I know it’s not a general solution, but I think it would be a useful feature.
