I can't find an API to list amendments, although it's possible to diff the bill content between 2nd and 3rd readings.
Ok, quick update on this. Here's my proposed approach:
Phase 1: Bill timelines
- Scrape bill summary data and store in new Bill model
- Expose bill summary data (including status changes for timeline) via
GET /bills/:idendpoint - Link bills to promises (AI ✨, note this will be direct association, not via 'evidences')
- Frontend: Render bill timeline in evidence view
Note, this will not include detailed info such as amendments etc, but will allow us to display bill progress within timelines as a first step.
Phase 2: Bill timelines with amendments
This would allow us to display more detailed updates on the evidence timeline. e.g. Amendments, vote breakdowns etc. Details TBD.

We want to track relevant bills as they go through the legislative process. They should show up as evidence in the timeline.
This requires three things:
Creating a feed that scrapes bills, their text, amendments and their progress from LegisInfo (they have an api:
https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/en/bills/json). Don't create Entries here, create new models to track bills specifically.Linking those bills to promises
Create another model called
BillMovementthat tracks the progress through parliament and it should also track amendments to bill at each stage. This is what should be shown in the evidence view on the app.We want bill tracking to be separate from entries so we can build other functionality with the raw bill data in the future.
