This document describes the current status of certification, compatibility claims, and future certification programs relating to the LightBurn and MillMage REST APIs.
The purpose of this policy is to provide clarity regarding third-party integrations and to establish a framework that may be expanded in the future.
At the time of publication, LightBurn Software does not operate an official certification program for applications, integrations, services, or products that use the LightBurn or MillMage REST APIs.
Use of the APIs does not imply certification, approval, endorsement, partnership, or support by LightBurn Software.
Developers may describe their products as compatible with the LightBurn or MillMage REST APIs when they have reasonably tested and validated that compatibility.
Examples of acceptable language include:
- Compatible with LightBurn
- Compatible with MillMage
- Supports the LightBurn REST API
- Supports the MillMage REST API
Developers should accurately represent the versions that have been tested.
Unless expressly authorized by LightBurn Software in writing, developers may not claim that their products are:
- Certified by LightBurn Software
- Approved by LightBurn Software
- Endorsed by LightBurn Software
- Official LightBurn products
- Official MillMage products
- Official LightBurn partners
- Official MillMage partners
The use of trademarks remains subject to applicable trademark policies and applicable law.
LightBurn Software reserves the right to establish certification, verification, compatibility, partnership, or compliance programs relating to the APIs in the future.
Such programs may include:
- Compatibility testing
- Security reviews
- Documentation requirements
- Version compliance requirements
- Trademark usage guidelines
- Certification marks or badges
- Ongoing maintenance requirements
The existence of this policy does not create any obligation for LightBurn Software to establish such programs.
If an official certification program is introduced in the future, LightBurn Software may publish certification requirements, testing procedures, branding requirements, maintenance obligations, and revocation procedures.
Such requirements may be modified from time to time.
Any future certification, approval, verification, or compatibility designation may be suspended or revoked at the discretion of LightBurn Software.
Reasons may include:
- Security concerns
- Safety concerns
- Misleading marketing claims
- Compatibility failures
- Failure to maintain compliance with program requirements
- Misuse of LightBurn or MillMage trademarks
Compatibility with the APIs does not imply that an application has been evaluated for operational safety, machine control safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, or suitability for a particular purpose.
Users remain responsible for evaluating any integration before using it in production environments.
